Fire annually kills 700 people in the United Kingdom and costs approximately £1,500 million in insurance claims from industry.

Fire safety law changed in October 2006 with the introduction of the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005. The requirement for businesses to have fire certificates has been abolished and any previously held are no longer valid.

Instead the law emphasises preventing fires and reducing risk and makes it the Employers responsibility to ensure the safety of everyone who uses their premises and in the immediate vicinity

Aim:
The course is designed to make staff aware of the general actions to be taken in the event of a fire.

• Legislation
• Causes of workplace fires
• Classes of fire
• Fire safety precautions
• Reducing the risks
• Fire fighting procedures
• Extinguisher recognition and use
• Fire action planning

Duration: 3 hours
Assessment: 10 question test paper
