Principles of COSHH Level 2

This qualification complements the Qualsafe Awards Level 2 Award in Health and Safety in the Workplace by introducing candidates to the inherent risks in substances and the controls available.

Who needs this qualification?

Designed for those responsible for the Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH) at work, as well as employees who use hazardous substances in manufacturing, cleaning, healthcare, transport, utilities and offices.

Why is this training important?

This qualification will prepare employees to contribute to the safer use of hazardous substances in co-operation with their managers and supervisors.

  • Various forms of hazardous substances in the workplace
  • How hazardous substances enter the body
  • Effects of exposure to hazardous substances
  • The role of risk assessment in reducing accidents and ill health
  • The five step process of risk assessment
  • The hierarchy of control
  • Control of substances hazardous to health
  • Types of information with regards to the control of hazardous substances
  • Dealing with incidents involving hazardous substances

Duration: Half-day programme
Assessment: 15 question multi-choice exam. Candidates must achieve ten or more correct answers to be awarded the Qualsafe Awards Level 2 award in COSHH

Ofqual accredited: Yes
Prerequisite: Recommended Qualsafe Awards Level 2 Award in Health and Safety in the Workplace or equivalent.

Price includes course manual and a Level 2 Award in Principles of Manual Handling certificate on passing the course.
