Fire Safety - Level 2 (RQF)

The Fire Safety Level 2 course allows candidates to develop their basic fire safety awareness. It is particularly useful for employees who are to have a designated responsibility for workplace fire safety, for example as fire wardens or fire marshals, and provides the knowledge that will allow them to carry out duties relating to fire safety and emergency procedures.

  • Characteristics of fire and smoke spread

Understand how fire risk is controlled in the workplace

  • Methods used to identify and control fire hazards
  • “Means of Escape”
  • Fire detection Principles of extinguishing fires
  • Common fixed fire fighting equipment

Understand the principles and practice of fire safety management at work

  • Duties of employers and employees
  • Simple fire safety inspections
  • Fire Safety Risk Assessments

Understand the role of the nominated fire warden

  • On a day to day basis, in an emergency and if they are not in their designated area when alarm is raised
  • Contents of a fire safety briefing

Course duration: One-day course
Assessment method: 30 question multi-choice exam.
